God is good

I haven't blogged for awhile, but this past weekend has made me appreciate my life and family a whole lot more. My son, Brendan, was on his way to Prince George to play 2 games for the regular season in his major midget league. Just outside of Williams Lake, their bus skidded out on black ice, and flipped.

He had been asleep, and didn't realize what was happening until just before the bus left the road and turned over.

It was a miracle that no one was seriously hurt or killed. One player had to be airlifted to Childrens with some pretty serious injuries.

One of the players managed to take this picture from inside the bus seconds after they came to a stop. I am so amazed and proud of these boys. Brendan will never be the same again. They all realize that they were spared. Thankyou God for your protection.

You know you are too busy when........

Well, its official.....I am too busy!

Case in point...

April and May are traditionally the busiest months of the year for us. Brendan starts his off-season training, which is 3 days a week, and begins his tryout camps for various hockey teams. For Gabi, its dance competition season. And of course trying to fit in full-time work, as well as trying to keep ahead of the laundry and housework and grocery shopping, all of which I failed miserably at. This year was no different, and there were stretches that Barry and I wouldn't see each other for days at a time....I don't know what we would have done without cell phones so we would know that the other one was still alive!

Well, one night last week, Barry got a phone call from his brother. I walked into the house just after he answered the call, and the conversation went something like this.....

Randy: "I just called to say congratulations".

Barry: "For what?"

Randy: "Its your anniversary!"

Barry to me: "Do you know what day this is today?"

Me: "No clue".

Barry: "What were you and I doing 20 years ago today?"

Well, you get where this is going.....yes, we BOTH forgot our 20th anniversary!!! Yikes!!!!

I keep thinking it can't go on like this forever.....right....I am right, right.....

Spring Break getaway

Spring Break. This year, Barry and I took the plunge and went away without the kids. Actually, we left them home, on their own! Yikes! Since Brendan now has his "N", we decided to go to Seattle for 4 days, and leave them at home with a vehicle. I was quite nervous at first, but they did very well. Brendan was a taxi driver for Gabi, and the house and the dogs were well taken care of!

We stayed at this really nice hotel in north Seattle....

The rooms were huge!

We did a lot of sleeping in and shopping, of course.
One day we spent downtown. I had never been to this market before....

It was an interesting experience!

It was cold, but the rain stayed away, for the most part, and the sun even tried to come out.

Ever since we heard about this restaurant, Barry and I have wanted to try it. We are HUGE seafood fans, so were really looking forward to it.

This is all we were given to eat with.... a bib and a mallet!

We were not disappointed! I was absolutely stuffed, and have to say it was the best meal I have ever had! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

And now, back to the reality of life..... :(

Finally.....a new post!!

I know, I know....its been forever! Its been so long, in fact, that my kids have changed!

Gabi got glasses....

She only needs them for school, which is good. She was coming home everyday, saying that she had a headache. Of course, good mother that I am, a couple of months later I finally took her to the opthamologist, who said she needed glasses to read the board and overhead. And, thanks to our extended medical, she got a nice, fashionable, free pair!

Brendan had let his hair grow out....."hockey hair", as it is called. After his team finished for the season, he decided to go from this....

...to this! It has taken some getting used to, for him and for me!

New addition

Well, we took the plunge. We have been thinking about expanding our family for quite some time, and our dream has been fulfilled.

Meet Papi!

We are adopting him from a Boxer rescue organization. He will be arriving here from California on Monday and we are very excited to be welcoming him into our family.
